I stopped first at Winners - the Canadian equivalent of TJMaxx. I really wanted some white baby undershirt-onesie things (with the snaps between the legs). Unfortunately, they had these in 6-9 months, but no smaller. Next door at Zellers (Canadian Kmart), they had them in newborn sizes, but in eith pink or blue. Grr. I did, however find this little gem at Winners:
It came with socks and a hat (with little bear ears!):
And I found this on the bum as I was taking it off the hangar just now (the teddy bear isn't demented - the flash just reacted poorly):

They also had one in a ducky theme - maybe I'll go back tomorrow and get it...
Buying baby clothes prompted me to want a few more turtlenecks for myself that actually fit down over the tummy. I wandered into a women's store with a plus-size section (the easiest and cheapest way to find maternity shirts) and was happily browsing when a salesgirl appeared. I stepped around the rack of sweaters I'd been looking at and she exclaimed, "Oh! You're pregnant!" Thanks, Captain Obvious. "You must be getting close," she commented. When I told her I had nine more weeks, she looked dumbfounded - as though she wanted to say, "But you're HUGE!!!" Ahem...
After my shopping adventures, I popped into the library for some recreational reading material. I've been overdosing on articles about childhood vaccines and wanted something novel-ish. I sidled up to the online card catalogue kiosk and found that I couldn't quite get the belly close enough to the screen to comfortably read the results of my search. Oy.
Now, I'm surfing the local parenting website classifieds for bargains. We bought an ADORABLE fluffy ducky costume yesterday that would be perfect for Purim (Jewish holiday where kids traditionally dress up). I'll post pics when we pick it up tomorrow. Still on the hunt for a gently used Graco Pack 'n Play.
