He's turning out to be extremely social. We went for a walk today around Elk and Beaver Lakes. We tried this last week and Akiva cried about 2/3 of the way (a loop, so it wasn't worth turning around). This week, we did a shorter hike and I borrowed the MEC Happy Trails Carrier:

I was nervous at first, not being able to see him. Akiva loved it. He slept the first half of the walk and then flirted the second half with the other mums - he was the only baby at eye level. Akiva demands to be recognized by his public...
He's really turning into a little boy. His hair is getting longer and wilder, he's getting taller and leaner (slightly), and he's really starting to babble. I expect fully-formed sentences to spring out of his mouth any day now.
Our painter finally finished our living/dining/hallway project. I'll post pics at some point in the future, but I'd like to get the rooms in order first - we've been shuffling things around and have a fair bit of organizing to do before they are photo ready. Anyway, he came by to collect what we owed him and brought his fiancee. Akiva and I were in Akiva's room playing when Mark came to ask me to bring Akiva. Apparently Chris, our painter, had been telling his fiancee for weeks that Akiva was the cutest baby ever and she just had to come see. Of course, what could she do except corroborate in front of us. All the same, a mom likes to hear that her kid is as adorable as she thinks he is.
Our other big adventure of the day was a trip to Nana's. It was pretty warm here (low 70s)and Akiva developed his first real diaper rash overnight (he's had a spot of dermatitis under his belly button that we can't seem to get rid of, but the rest of the diaper area had stayed relatively spot-free). So, we headed out to Nana and Grandpa's house to relax au naturel on their sunny and secluded lawn. Akiva loves to be naked. Not only can he get his feet to his mouth, but he can suck his toes to boot. Talent. Here are some pics of our amazing boy performing this feat (no pun intended) the other day:

And, since I have the time, I'll leave you with a few pics of Akiva sitting on his own the other day. He can balance quite well, but he hasn't yet figured out how to reach for something and maintain his position. He's done a few faceplants reaching for a toy...
