Midwife Visit

The visit to the midwife was wonderfully uneventful yesterday. The baby's heartbeat was steady at 135 beats/minute - the midwife assured me this was normal. Everything else was normal, as well. We refused the gestational diabetes screen for now. My glucose levels have been entirely normal throughout the pregnancy and there is no cause for concern. We'll monitor them and make a decision later on if we have an indication that the GD test is warranted. Our research showed that the test often gives a false positive which can open a whole can of intervention worms. The way to treat GD is generally with diet and exercise anyway, so we'll make an extra effort to watch the sugar preemptively (hard as this is for me...).

Labor Day weekend is almost here and we're planning to work on finishing washing the walls and painting the baby's room.
