I was reading at www.electoral-vote.com this morning (my fave site for a visual representation of the latest presidential and Congressional election polls) and the author brought up a great point.
In states where early voting is available, the lion's share of early voters have been Democrats. This has implications for all of us who are, quite literally, praying for an Obama victory (I'd never before prayed for a candidate...until this election). The exit polling results could possibly reflect this early voting and results MAY appear skewed toward McCain-Palin ((shudder)).
So, take heart (Mom, pay attention :) if you're in the Obama camp and you aren't hearing what you want on Tuesday - the information may not be accurate.
I personally am afraid of a Bradley effect (instead of the reverse Bradley effect that was in the news a few weeks ago) - that people will really not vote for Obama due to his race even though they tell pollsters differently. I'm having a bit of anxiety about this and may have to have a beer at some point on election day (Guinness is supposed to be good for nursing, right?). At least I'm on the West Coast and the election will be called pretty early in the evening out here.
Canadians almost unilaterally want Obama, so I'm also a little worried I'm living in a dreamworld since the media I expose myself to (Globe and Mail newspaper and CBC Radio) are drooling over themselves ready to proclaim an Obama victory. We'll know soon enough.
