Dilemma

With Akiva's first birthday coming up I have a terrible dilemma as to what to get him as a present. I want to get him the presents I always wanted as a child but didn't get. While I always wanted a pelet gun, that will have to wait until he's a bit older. Right now I am leaning toward the 1948 Jaguar Electric Roadster car for him to zip around my parents' place in:

This is the sort of toy I always wanted as a child, but then the options were far more pedestrian (Jeeps and the truly ugly Corvette). Now here is a car with the style and panache my boy exudes. At the same time I get to fulfill my desires which weren't met as a child. What a wonderful opportunity, and far cheaper than the therapy to deal with those young traumas.

I think you would be shortchanging your precious son by buying him a measly replica. Why not get him an original now and give it to him when he's 16? Of course, you'd have to give up your free time to drive it to keep it in good working order until then, but isn't being a parent all about making sacrifices?
