The past two weeks have been very busy as Akiva's grandparents have been visiting him for the first time. He loved everyone and I enjoyed seeing my family again.
Changes I've noticed in our little one:
* He now has a fun sleepytime trick - he wakes up in the night, nurses, and then goes back to sleep. This applies even if he's wide awake after he finishes nursing. He just lies on the bed looking around. He tries to get me to play with him by smacking me in the face occasionally, but he eventually goes back to sleep.
* He prefers a dark and quiet space for serious nighttime sleeping.
* His hair is coming in honey-blond.
* He still loves jazz and will often sit for 15 minutes with me while I work in the kitchen if I have the jazz NPR station on.
* He has outgrown the first size of cloth diapers (up to 15 lbs, though I don't think he weighs that much yet) and is into the second (15-35 lbs). Folding the new HUGE diapers was challenging at first. He ended up with his legs splayed out to the sides because there was so much material between them. About 10 tries later we seem to have reached a happy medium.
* He has also outgrown his first batch of clothes. I've learned that one company's 9 month outfit is another company's 3 month outfit...
* He has smiled (not counting sleepy smiles) a handful of times.
* His general facial expression is pretty serious. He likes to look at light/dark contrasts and loves the quilt his great-grammy made him (it's on the wall above the crib right now).
*He tries to immitate my expression if I stick my tongue out at him. He wiggles his tongue but doesn't yet know how to make it go out on purpose.
* His baby acne is clearing up and he has just a touch of cradle cap.
In other news, I go back to Weight Watchers this week. They have a special meeting for moms and babies, so I won't have to worry about escaping if he gets fussy.

I am SOOOO jealous that you have a mom and baby WW meeting to go to! We kind of just decided to take over our meeting, and make it into a kid-friendly one. They haven't kicked us out yet, and it's been a year, so I think it's okay now.....
What diapers do you use? We're seriously ADDICTED to Fuzzi Bunz. We get them from a great lady who's got a store in Ann Arbor - www.treecitydiapers.com. She's wonderful to work with.
Anyways - your stuff should be arriving any day now. Let me know how it works for you! =)
Yeah, the WW mtg is great. A few older ladies come to oohh and ahh over the babies, too.
We've been using the standard Chinese prefold diapers - got them from an online Canadian store - with diaper covers (Kushies and another brand). Seems to be working well for us so far.
No SE stuff yet (it takes hings forver to get through customs...) - will keep you posted!
